The Earl Warren Legal Education Program, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was created to provide scholarships to African-American law students to promote civil rights and work in the public interest. [14] LDF`s first lawyer, Constance Baker Motley, wrote the original trial in Brown v. Board of Education and launched legal campaigns for several landmark cases of school desegregation. She was the first black woman to appear before the Supreme Court and won nine out of ten cases. Motley was the first black woman in the New York State Senate and the first woman to serve as president of the Manhattan borough. She later became the first black woman to serve as a federal judge. In July 2018, Joseph Ferguson was drugged by Constable McDonough of the Kenosha Police Department.
